For the first time since 2011, the temperature in Boston has reached over 100 degrees as a result of a heat wave which has grappled the Northeast. While the extreme heat caused community members to try to keep it cool for a few days, thunderstorms have brought promises of cooler temperatures for the Fourth of July this upcoming weekend. Thursday, July 2nd's, temperatures will be in the 80's with continued showers a strong possibility as a low pressure system is close to the slow moving cold front. Temperatures on Friday will be in the upper 60's to low 70's with spotty rain showers again likely. Showers are not ruled out for the weekend, but Sunday the 4th looks to be the better of the two days. Boston.com reports that this season will not break the record for the hottest ever, “Since we’re 90 and above today, the last day of the month, that’ll be 11 days for 90 and above for the season thus far,”...“Now the record, up through today, would be 12 days of 90 and above ending June 30, 1976.”
