World Mental Health Day is celebrated on October 10th. On this day, we help raise awareness and support for mental health.

Mental health is a hot topic today. People aren’t shy to address mental health issues and are finally getting the attention they deserve.

However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t still work to do and continue to create awareness.

Some might misunderstand mental health because it is hard to define. Mental health covers several areas and means many things to different people. These areas involve social, emotional, and psychological well-being. It can affect thoughts, feelings, and actions. Having positive mental health will help decrease stress and realize our full potential.

HOW TO OBSERVE #MentalHealthDay

Not everyone faces mental health issues, but mental health can impact everyone at one point or another. Discussing mental health with your loved ones helps create awareness.

  • Organizations sometimes host a variety of events about this topic. Events may include educational seminars, free mental health screenings, walk-a-thons, marathons, conferences, mass media promotions, and more You can find some here: https://www.nami.org/Get-Involved/Awareness-events
  • If you know someone who struggles with a mental health disorder, reach out to them and let them know you are there for them. Some might not feel comfortable talking to others about their diagnosis, but knowing they have someone to reach out to can be life-changing.
  • You can also donate to an organization: National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI) and the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation.

Share this day on social media with #WorldMentalHealthDay.
