Fires are very common around the holidays simply because of Christmas trees or lights. Roughly three-quarters of Christmas tree fires occur in December or January. (National Fire Protection Association). Here are some tips to keep you safe: 

• The miniature lights are good picks because they help reduce the drying of the tree.
• Always inspect light sets prior to placing them on the tree.
• Do not overload electrical circuits.
• Always turn off Christmas lights when unattended.
• If the tree is dry, remove it from the house.
• Never burn any part of the tree in a fireplace.
